Professor Paul Nicholson and Dr Steve Mills are both based in the Archaeology section at at Cardiff University,

in the Cardiff School of History, Archaeology and Religion. Professor Nicholson’s research interests are in Egyptology, including early technology and animal cults, as well as the history of Archaeology and the role of photography in Archaeology.

Dr Mills’ research focuses on the significance of sound in the past and he also participates in a range of research projects through surveying and the application of Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

Their paper reveals some of the findings of his Heritage Lottery Fund Project Views of an Antique Land, collecting photographs, postcards, lantern slides and stereoviews that provide evidence of Egypt and Palestine during the First World War.
