Digital technologies are already changing how we shop, work and travel. They will transform the physical shape of our cities and how we inhabit them. This offers lots of opportunities in terms of greater efficiency – so called ‘smart cities.’ It will also bring challenges in terms of privacy, security and inequality. It will make some infrastructure and jobs redundant, whilst also creating new opportunities. How should citizens, businesses and city administrations respond to proactively to this digital future? How can academia be a partner in creating better cities?

Professor Peter Madden, OBE, (Professor of Practice in City Futures, Cardiff University) will draw on his experience of working with citizens, businesses, and governments across the world to innovate smart technologies for urban problems.

*This event will be delivered through the medium of English.
