Speakers: Oliver Dalby and Isadora Sinha

This seminar will discuss the observed demographics that currently use the Project SeagrassSpotter App and the potential implications of these demographics on the feasibility of using the app as a conservation tool. It will also examine the perceived motivations, deterrence and knowledge transfer associated with participation in seagrass citizen science projects (specifically SeagrassSpotter and Seagrass Watch) as highlighted by a survey of the respective user bases.

The results will highlight the salient themes for why people take part and highlight differences between traditional participatory and mobile phone-based approaches.
