In May this year, Transport for Wales confirmed that KeolisAmey had been appointed to design, build and operate the South Wales Metro.

Following this announcement, Cardiff University, Capital Law, the Institute of Welsh Affairs, Arup and other key partners will be hosting the Metro and Me event on Monday 8th October at the Radisson Blu, Cardiff.

This free event will provide a forum to discuss the broader social, community, cultural, environmental, economic and regeneration opportunities - leaning on a collection of thought pieces to be published prior to the conference, with contributions from leading academics at Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University and other key thought leaders in the region.

Join us to hear from the authors, alongside a variety of stakeholders from industry, civil society and government. With keynotes, panel discussions, case studies and QandAs, the event aims to explore the opportunities and challenges this major infrastructure investment presents for the wider region, including details of what the next phase of Metro is, and who is going to build and operate it.

Full event programme to announced shortly. Confirmed speakers include:

  • David Llewellyn (Welsh Government)
  • Neil Harris (Cardiff University)
  • Wendy Maden (Design Commission for Wales / The Urbanists)
  • Brian Morgan (Cardiff Metropolitan University)
  • Emma Price (Studio Response)
