Routes into Languages Cymru hold annual training sessions in collaboration with each Welsh educational consortia to train Pupil Language Ambassadors (PLA) who are usually in Year 9 at secondary school.

The main aims of the PLA are to support and raise aspirations of language learning by:
* Raise the profile of the department in the school.
* Share information about the importance of foreign language skills for work and life.
* Encourage your fellow pupils to continue studying modern foreign languages.

A group of pupils will be trained to take ownership of promoting the value of foreign language learning within their school with a view to changing attitudes and perceptions. PLAs organise events and activities within the school community in partnership with their teachers, Routes Cymru Student Language Ambassadors and other stakeholders.

The main objective is to increase the number of pupils continuing with their modern foreign language study in Key Stage 4.
Routes Cymru in collaboration with the regional consortia offer free training days for Pupil Language Ambassadors.
