A Confucius Insitute tutor demonstrating traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy

Mid-Autumn festival, also known as Moon Festival, was traditionally a harvest festival celebrated when the harvest moon was at its brightest and would be worshipped in hope of a plentiful harvest. In China, the moon is also an important symbol for family, so nowadays the festival is more typically recognised as a time for family reunion and peace.

We will be celebrating by bringing the local community together with a morning of Chinese cultural activities at Penylan Library.

Open to people of all ages, you can have a go at Chinese calligraphy, try some Tai Chi, watch a graceful tea ceremony (and then taste the tea!), listen to Chinese stories, and much more. The activities will be running from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 29th September.

Admission is free and open to all.
