The University Symphony Chorus and Orchestra combine forces to perform works by the School of Music’s current head of composition, Arlene Sierra, and alumna Morfydd Owen.

In Bernstein’s 100th anniversary year, the Chorus will perform the life-affirming setting of Psalms first performed in 1965. Such was the success and popularity of the first set of Old American Songs, composed by Copland at Benjamin Britten’s request, that a second set soon followed.

You may find yourself surprisingly familiar with at least one of the tunes.
