This event marks the launch of a seminal report by RSPB Cymru and the Sustainable Places Research Institute assessing the impact of area statements on biodiversity in Wales.

“Biodiversity and the area-based approach in Wales: How can the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) framework deliver nature recovery?” examines how SMNR and Area Statements can be an effective means of Wales meeting its biodiversity objectives.

The event will host speakers from Cardiff University, RSPB Cymru, and National Resources Wales, who will summarise the report and explore how biodiversity objectives can be met through the sustainable management of natural resources.

The report outlines the merits and pitfalls of comparable spatial-based international approaches, evaluates ecosystem services toolkits, and examines the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem resilience. The full document can be downloaded from http://bit.ly/SPRIareastatements.If you would like to attend please register for tickets at http://bit.ly/SMNRreport.
