Milltir Butetown - Butetown Mile

Relaunched in 2013 by Dr Sarah Fry, Lecturer at Cardiff University’s School of Healthcare Sciences, in partnership with members of the community, Butetown is one of only three places in the world to host a straight mile road race alongside Fifth Avenue, New York, and the Champs-Elysees, Paris!

The Butetown Mile has two race categories:

Elite race – for runners who want to take on the mile in under 7 minutes held under Welsh Athletics regulations. Entry is for over 18’s only.

Fun Run – for everyone else! Take on the mile at your own pace. Suitable for people of all abilities and families welcome.

The route is from the top of Bute Street to Cardiff Bay, with the finish line at the back of the Millennium Centre. The course is straight, so a great opportunity for a personal best.
