Free Music Workshops

Join multidisciplinary artist Imran Khan and composer Dr Robert Fokkens of Cardiff University for this 2-day workshop, presented in collaboration with Chapter. 

During this workshop, we will:  

• Learn to use digital composition software and hardware devices and interfaces. 
• Experience and explore improvisational approaches.   
• Experience traditional approaches to group music-making with percussion instruments from various cultures around the world.   
• Discuss and reflect on the topics of diversity and immigration in response to a screening of excerpts from the film of Bhekizizwe, a sung monodrama by Robert Fokkens and Mkhululi Mabija.  
• Use the wide range of devices and instruments introduced as well as the participants’ own expressive skills to explore ways of expressing their unique creativity through creative work. 
• Record the creative work the participants make, and share this on our dedicated project website.
