How do we procure innovation in Wales?

"Procurement should be the pioneer that starts the innovation conversation" - Siju Johny CPO Transgrid, but the reality is often quite different.

Businesses are constantly having to adapt to the global marketplace demands but innovation can be timely and costly especially when scaling up. In procurement, we are faced with many responsibilities in decision making, from responsible and ethical sourcing to addressing climate change issues, so how do we also embed innovation?

The procurement of innovation and innovative procurement are often used interchangeably when of course they mean very different things. This session is focused on the procurement of innovation – to understand how in Wales we buy innovative products and services and some of the challenges buyers and suppliers may face. Buyers and suppliers from a range of sectors will come together to hear from Professor Jane Lynch about best practices in innovation and to discuss how we overcome some of the potential barriers to achieving innovation.
