There is much discussion, particularly in Wales, about the importance of the ‘Foundational Economy’ i.e. “the activities which provide the essential goods and services for everyday life” (Senedd Research) in that developing the foundational economy not only improves citizens’ quality of life, but also, provides a mechanism for their economic prosperity. Simply put, let’s spend money in Wales, for Welsh people, by Welsh people and create thriving localised economies.

This interactive workshop will support participants to enhance their understating of Foundational Economy principles through an immersive Wales-based case study. Gary Walpole from Circular Economy Innovation Communities (CEIC) will talk about a recent scoping study that he has undertaken for Welsh Government to examine how a ‘Foundational Academy’ could benefit Wales and he will share some case studies from the report to provoke debate.

Join us to see how you can get involved in this work!

This is an in-person workshop held at Spark, Maindy Road, Cardiff, CF24 4HQ.
