This event aims to bring together and build on the findings of WCPP’s various reports, exploring the issue of how the Welsh Government can increase participation, retention and achievement rates in post-compulsory education and training, focusing on the 16-19 age group, and how the legislative changes brought about by the Tertiary Education and Research (TER) Bill can be used to support this.

The event will bring together experts and policymakers working on a range of issues related to post-16 education and training in Wales and England.

It will provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experience, discuss the current evidence base, and understand what an appropriate policy mix would be to encourage continued engagement in learning and reduce early leaving, particularly for groups least engaged in learning or training.

Speakers will include Dan Bristow (WCPP), Professor Sue Maguire (IPR), Dr Matt Dickson (IPR), Dr Sue Pember CBE (Holex), Huw Morris (Welsh Government) and Olly Newton (Edge Foundation).

(Please note: A simultaneous English to Welsh translation may be provided for the Q&A section if there is sufficient demand.)
