Since its inception, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) has been on the forefront of advancing new technologies that have become synonymous with modern society. Their research programmes have also led to pivotal milestones in the history of Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as Deep Blue and Watson.

At the next Crime and Security Research Institute (CSRI) lunchtime seminar, Director of Research for IBM UK Dr Peter Waggett will outline the urgency for science and the potential to supercharge the scientific method with AI and Quantum Computing.

Dr Waggett will illustrate the progress being made in some case studies and will highlight key directions of travel for IBM and the wider IT community.

”Scientific discovery is driven by two forces: the development of new capabilities, and the relentless tenacity of the world’s sharpest minds.” - IBM
