We are pleased to be working with the Cardiff Hubs and Libraries to bring you a day full of activities and fun in celebration of China's most important cultural festival.
Chinese Language Taster Session at 11am - 11.45am or 2pm - 2.45pm
Have you ever wanted to learn Chinese but haven't been brave enough to sign up to a language course? Join one of our experienced language tutors are they introduce you to some of the most commonly used Chinese characters as well as some useful phrases!
Chinese Calligraphy session at 12pm - 12.45pm or 3pm - 3.45pm
Have you ever tried Chinese Calligraphy? The topic of this workshop will revolve around the special character Fú 福. Every Spring Festival, Chinese families will hang the character Fú on to doors or windows, which represents their wishes for good fortune in the coming year.
We will start by giving you an introduction to this character and its associated traditions, then we will teach you how to write this character step by step in the Regular Script 楷书. We look forward to celebrating this most important Chinese festival with you all.
Chinese Painting and Paper-cutting at 1pm - 1.45pm or 4pm - 4.45pm
Learn a little bit about the techniques of traditional Chinese Painting as we teach you how to form some basic shapes and create a Plum Blossom painting. If you have paintbrushes, paper and calligraphy ink or watercolours then you are welcome to join in from home! In the second half of the workshop we will introduce you to Chinese paper cutting and scissors, paper and pens are recommended to join in with this activity.
