Governors for Schools is a national charity committed to helping ensure excellent education for children in schools through effective governance. We are working with them to support our alumni in considering volunteering as a school governor.

Volunteering as a school governor is a fantastic way to broaden your skills and network, building up board-level experience and helping to set the strategic direction of a school. It’s a chance to see the impact of your decisions first-hand.

Thousands of schools across Wales and England have vacancies and are looking for skilled volunteers to serve as governors. As alumni, you have the skills and expertise that school governing bodies are looking for.

Governors for Schools are running a free webinar for Cardiff University alumni living in Wales and England to introduce you to:

  • the role of school governing boards
  • how you can be matched with a school
  • their training opportunities, both before and after you are appointed as a school governor.

This is an information session and there is no obligation to volunteer.
