We look at the crucial social, economic and ecological role of Hindukush-Karakoram-Himalaya region of Pakistan. The region is often termed as the Third Pole due to the largest glacial deposits and freshwater sources outside the polar regions.

We will discuss how the human settlements and ecosystems are both at risk from the impending changes in climate. We will further identify and discuss key challenges and possible way forward.
