For Alumni, By Alumni (Live!) - Diversity in the Creative Industries – Moving Beyond Tokenism

Tune in for this alumni-led conversation between Pat Younge (BSc 1987) and Joycelyn Longdon (BSc 2019), as they discuss the need for greater diversity within the creative industries. This is the first in a new series of events where we turn over the webcams to our alumni, and let them discuss topics of interest to the Cardiff University community.

Pat is the managing director of CARDIFF PRODUCTIONS LIMITED, and SUGAR FILMS ltd. Prior to that, Pat was the chief creative officer at the BBC where he was then the corporation’s most senior black executive. Back in the 80’s when Pat was studying Geology in Cardiff, he also found time to be AU and then SU President, as well as First XV.

Joycelyn is a freelance marketeer and founder of BLACKONBLACK, a creative agency which champions diversity in the creative industries, supporting creatives of colour. After finishing a degree in Astrophysics, she’s now turning her attention to a PhD at Cambridge, where she will be looking at the application of AI on Climate Change. She has also recently launched a new creative platform, Climate in Colour, to make climate conversations more accessible, diverse and informative.

We know our alumni are a  knowledgeable, creative  and interesting bunch, so we’ve decided to hand the floor over in our new ‘For Alumni, by Alumni (Live!)’  event series.

We’re looking for contributors for a series of  30-minute  events,  to  share their thoughts, expertise, passions  and  experience. There’s  no set theme, but we’re looking for  topics  that will inspire, engage and spark curiosity in your fellow alumni.
