Our final Breakfast Briefing before the summer break will explore the South Wales Metro Project, and will be held in the Executive Education Suite on Wednesday July 10th
In November 2015, the Welsh Government published its document “Rolling out our Metro”, which set out its aspirations for a South Wales Metro system for Public Transport. Much of the justification for the project was driven by a report produced in 2011 by Professor Mark Barry of Cardiff University, entitled “A Metro for Wales’ Capital City Region” which discussed transportation and its economic benefits to the region.
In July’s Briefing, Professor Barry will be joined by Colin Lea from Transport for Wales to review the progress to date, and the opportunities which exist beyond the funded plans. They will also assess the importance of linking land use, health, education and economic development planning, to transport infrastructure investment.
