A Chinese Dragon Boat on Kunming Lake, China

Also known as Duanwu Festival, Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday which has been celebrated annually for over 2000 years in China.  The festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month according to the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, so this year it will be celebrated on 7th June. The festival commemorates Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), an ancient Chinese patriotic poet and is considered one of the four major traditional Chinese holidays (the other three are Chinese New Year, Qingming Festival & Mid-Autumn Festival).

In this evening talk we will introduce the Origin & History of the Festival, the Legend of Qu Yuan, and the various Traditions & Customs of the Festival which include boat racing and eating Zongzi. The evening will be interactive with interesting games and prizes to be won! And, of course, there will be Chinese green tea and traditional snacks waiting for you to try!

We look forward to seeing you there!
