How do young people in Cardiff Capital Region define their city-region? What do they appreciate about the areas where they live? And what would they like to see changing?

These are some of the questions which have informed Lorena Axinte’s exploration of Cardiff Capital Region in the context of The Wellbeing of Future Generations Act.

This lunchtime seminar will begin with a short documentary which introduces her research in the SUSPLACE Marie Curie ITN. Lorena will present the data gathered with young people (aged 16-24) to portray alternative representations and visions for the city-region’s development.

Based on the two creative methods used (web-mapping and Photovoice), she will share a sober scrutiny of engagement, in terms of time, effort and outcomes. The last part of the seminar will focus on a series of interviews conducted with key city-regional leaders to discuss the leaders’ opinions on youth engagement, as well as the roles they envisaged for young people.
