Mobility and Skills Award

This scheme is currently closed.

The Mobility and Skills Award is supporting our early career researchers by enabling acquisition of new research skills, visits to external laboratories for small-scale data collection, secondments to industry, government or other key stakeholders and engagement training.

Awards must be led by an early career researcher based in the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences.

For these applications, we define early career researchers as individuals who are either:

  • postdoctoral level (with clear potential and ambition to transition to independence)
  • newly appointed junior lecturers (within two years of starting at Cardiff University)
  • individuals holding their first early career fellowship (eg, Wellcome Trust Henry Dale Fellowship / MRC Skills Fellowship).

The latter will need to demonstrate that they do not already hold funding for the proposed activity via their fellowship.

'My aims were to develop a collaboration with a world-leading ancient DNA lab, and to gain skills that will form the basis of future grant and fellowship applications. This project has given me a number of highlyvaluable skills in my field and opened up many opportunities for future research.'

David Stanton, Honorary Research Fellow, School of Biosciences
