This award is designed to retain and recruit excellent early career researchers and support their transition to independence.

Researchers can receive up to eighteen months of funding and the award is designed to provide time to collect proof-of-concept data, build new scientific networks and work on submission of an independent funding application.

'I was obviously really pleased to receive the ISSF3 Wellcome Trust Award, it has helped stage my career. To have 18 months to do a project was so important in terms of progressing my career. It will be enough to place me in a competitive position for external funding.'
