Dr Sameh Otri

Dr Sameh Otri has diverse work experience in various educational institutions and organisations.

Dr Otri is currently working as an Engineering Lecturer at Cardiff and Vale College since October 2018. Dr Otri is a Community Governor at Roath Park Primary school since 2021.

Before moving back to the UK, Dr Otri worked as an Assistant Professor at Al Qassim University in Saudi Arabia from 2013 to 2017. Dr Sameh also served as a regional officer at Syria Relief Limited from 2012 to 2013.

Dr Otri was Research assistant on joint project between Centre of study Islam and the Social of Social Science titled “Brining up Muslim Children” from 2008 to June 2011 and hence a co-author of “Muslim Childhood”.

Dr Otri started his career as an Assistant Professor at Damascus University in Syria (1998 – 2000).

Overall, Dr Otri has a strong background in academia and teaching, with experience at both international and domestic institutions.

Dr Otri has an extensive education history. He obtained a BSc degree specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (1991-1996)

Dr Otri then obtained an MSc degree in the field of System Engineering with IT Application at Cardiff University (2000 to 2001), and then he pursued his PhD at Cardiff University (2002 to 2008) specialising in Artificial Intelligence.

Continuing his educational journey, Dr Otri attended the University of South Wales from 2019 to 2021, where he completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration.
