About

We're undertaking our biggest campus upgrade for a generation - a £600m investment in our future.

We are creating a £300m Innovation Campus, spending £260m on our teaching, learning and student experience, and investing £40m in initiatives to promote growth in the economy and industry.

This major upgrade will transform the campus for the 21st Century.

Innovation Campus investment

This £300m project to transform a disused railway yard into an innovative research space is already well underway, with two facilities open and work starting on a further two buildings.

The first stage of the Innovation Campus saw the completion of the Hadyn Ellis building and the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC).

The latest £135m stage will see two new centres of excellence opening, spark and the Translational Research Hub.

Transforming our student spaces

We are spending £260m on our teaching, learning and student experience, to improve existing facilities and develop new ones.

Construction work will start in 2018 on our new £50m Centre for Student Life.

We have also started the tender process for:

  • Construction has begun on a new joint home for the School of Mathematics and School of Computer Science and Informatics. We are creating a vibrant centre of excellence that will deliver innovative teaching and research.
  • a new student residence for up to 700-plus students on our Talybont site.

As part of the Transforming Libraries programme, a business case for a new library is being developed. Meanwhile we continue to introduce new technology and are reshaping the way libraries work in preparation for the new facility.
