Being Human Festival 2024

Cardiff University and Swansea University have been chosen as a collaborative flagship hub for Being Human Festival 2025, the UK’s national festival of the humanities.

Being Human is the UK’s national festival of the humanities in celebration of humanities research through public engagement.

Taking place in Cardiff, Port Talbot and Swansea from 6-15 November 2025, our Hub joins the Being Human Festival network, presenting hundreds of free events across the UK and beyond.

Our wide range of festival events aim to celebrate and demonstrate the ways in which humanities research inspire and enrich our everyday lives, help us to understand ourselves, our relationships with others, and the challenges we face in a changing world.

There’s no cost to attend, and most events are open to everyone, though some are aimed at specific underrepresented groups and schools.

Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, takes place 6-15 November 2025. Being Human is led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
