Ying Lin (MA) specializes in the area of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics with intensive research experience in building up large scale language corpus and relevant semantic analysis. Her research oriented teaching career began in 1996 when she was working in China as an enthusiastic university lecturer. She taught English to university students and conducted professional English training for industry partners, along with other high demanding English-Chinese translation/interpretation tasks. As an associate editor and one of the main authors, she completed several books related to language teaching and learning. She still continues her professional translation and training career after moving to the UK as well as taking an administrative role at Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning.
During her successful career teaching Chinese at Cardiff Lifelong Learning Centre since 2005, Ying Lin has always tried to combine her in-depth understanding about Chinese/English teaching & learning with her experience of living here in UK & China to come up with a unique methodology to make Chinese learning easy and interesting for all audiences. Over the years she has accumulated extensive experience teaching Chinese Language and Culture courses across all the levels (Chinese Language Level I – Level IV) to University undergraduates, adult learners and high school pupils. She tailored her Chinese teaching to the needs of her students, helping them to achieve the targeted Chinese proficiency at the end of their study. Teaching Chinese here in the UK has become an indispensible part of her life. Ying Lin feels helping students to immerse themselves in the Chinese language and culture is highly rewarding and enjoyable.
