Guarantee of Residence

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee you a place in University residences, however, if places become available for 2012/13 we will publish details in late April/May. 

I am an Overseas/EU Postgraduate arriving in September

You are guaranteed a single occupancy place in University residences during your first year of study. Please complete the following steps to ensure you are guaranteed a room:

  • Submit your online application and make a £200 non re-fundable pre-payment by Friday 7 September 2012
  • Receive an unconditional offer to study by Friday 14 September 2012
  • Accept your online Offer of Residence within 7 days of your room being allocated
  • Arrive and collect your room key within the dates/times specified in the Arrival Information

If your offer to study is made unconditional after Friday 14 September 2012 we will still do our best to find you a place in University residences, however, there may be some delay whilst we identify available vacancies

If you are unable to arrive within the specified dates, your Offer of Residence will be withdrawn and your room allocated to another student. You will no longer be guaranteed a place in University residences and will need to contact the Residences Office when your travel date is confirmed to check room availability

Please note we are unable to guarantee you one of your preferred residences.  If one of your preferred residences is not available we will make you what we consider a suitable alternative offer. The £200 pre-payment will be deducted from the first instalment of the residences fee. The pre-payment is generally non-refundable and will only be returned in exceptional circumstances. Requests for a refund must be made in writing, giving reasons, to the Senior Administrator by e-mail: residences@cardiff.ac.uk or by fax: +44 (0)29 2087 4661. Due to the busy allocation/arrival period, requests for refunds will not be considered until October/November 2012.

I am an Overseas/EU Postgraduate arriving after September

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee you a place in University residences if you are not studying for the full session i.e. September to June or September to September. You will need to contact the Residences Office to check availability.
