Our early-career network brings together postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers from across Cardiff University keen to tackle water challenges.
The early-career committee is composed of MSc, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from different schools, disciplines, and Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs), and frequently organises events to bring this vibrant community together:
- Social events: quizzes, after-work activities, 'doughnut hours'
- Academic events: seminars, documentary discussions on topics such as plastic pollution, sustainable fashion and environmental justice
- Career development events: 'fireside talks' with academics and other professionals, training sessions such as Writing for The Conversation
And Tyler Cuddy from the MSc Global Ecology and Conservation, and Ethel Wynard-Nadzo from the MSc Water in a Changing World.
Our early-career group has been coordinating the Refill campaign in Cardiff for over two years. The group aims to educate people about plastic pollution, a topic at the heart of our research.
The Refill campaign aims to tackle plastic pollution at source by enabling people to easily refill their water bottles in shops, restaurants and cafes. Over 100 refill stations are now available in Cardiff thanks to the hard work of our early-career group. We are working closely with Refill Wales to combine efforts and help make Wales the first Refill nation.
Meet the Refill Cardiff coordinators
We are connected with students and postdoctoral researchers from different disciplinary water research groups within Cardiff University and often co-organise events with them to expand the network.
The Water Research Institute collaborates with other national and international research groups. We are always happy to help you liaise with fellow students and postdoctoral researchers from within Cardiff and beyond. Our current collaborations include:
