We work in partnership with the Nuffield Foundation to offer research placements at the University.

These research placements are for students in their first year of a Post-16 STEM course and usually last four to six weeks. Placements are offered during school or college summer holidays.

The scheme gives students a chance to work alongside our STEM researchers and to carry out their own piece of real-life research. It is is particularly targeted at students from low-income or disadvantaged backgrounds. These students may be awarded a weekly bursary while they are on placement.

The project provides a well-recognised achievement to put on their UCAS application or CV. The placements also support them to enhance their written and verbal communication skills and overall levels of confidence.

Placements are hosted by a number of our Academic Schools and support a wide variety of STEM topics. Applications are made through the Nuffield Foundation.
