Cathays Park Campus tours

We are delighted to announce that we will be offering enhanced tours of our Cathays Park Campus in February 2023.

What it will cover

From our thriving capital city location to our academic and research excellence, Cardiff University has much to offer those who join our student community. We will be taking a brief look at some of the university and city highlights during a 30-minute talk and Q&A session, followed by a walking tour of our Cathays Park Campus lasting around an hour.

Please be aware that most of the tour is external and does not include internal visits to academic schools or our accommodation. However, you can find out more by browsing our accommodation options or taking our virtual tour.

Each tour is limited to a maximum of 16 visitors. To give as many prospective students as possible the opportunity to view our campus, no more than one guest per booking will be able join the tour. Any additional guests you bring may like to make use of nearby cafes or to spend time exploring the city centre.

Whilst no academic staff will be present, the sessions will be led by our knowledgeable student recruitment staff and friendly student ambassadors. With such a wide range of courses available at the University, we cannot guarantee your student tour guide is studying your subject of interest. However, they will happily answer general questions about studying and living in Cardiff.

Additional schools on campus

External tours to the Schools of Engineering, Physics, Optometry and Vision Sciences and the School of Journalism, Media and Culture are not included in the campus tour, but are available on request prior to the tour date. If you would like to arrange an extended tour to one of these schools (approximately one hour extra), please email us in advance at openday@cardiff.ac.uk once you have booked your general tour.

We are regretfully unable to conduct tours of our Heath Park Campus, where the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine and Healthcare Sciences are based. However, students studying Dentistry (BDS), Medicine and Medical Pharmacology all spend some time on our Cathays Park Campus in the first year.

Preparing for the tour

Tours will be undertaken on foot, so please wear suitable footwear and come prepared for the weather.

If you or your guest have accessibility or additional support requirements of which we should be aware, please contact us in advance so that suitable arrangements can be made.

Managing your booking

If you are unable to make your tour, please cancel your place as soon as possible, so we can offer other students the opportunity to visit. Cancellations can be managed through a link in your confirmation email.

If anything changes

In the unlikely event that a session needs to be rescheduled or cancelled at short notice, we will notify you of any changes via email or mobile phone (if details are provided).

However, we will be unable to reimburse you for any expenses incurred from a cancelled or postponed visit.

Safety measures

Please do not attend the event if you have symptoms of, or test positive for, coronavirus (COVID-19).

If you start to feel unwell with potential coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms whilst on campus, you should go home immediately and follow government advice.
