Ranked first

Law at Cardiff University was ranked 1st in Wales (The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020).

Research excellence

The majority of our activity was classed as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent' in 2014’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The academic staff are, by far, the most enjoyable aspect of my programme. Each lecturer combines their extensive experience and knowledge with a passion for teaching and learning. During my LLM, the lecturers have enthusiastically taught their subjects but also listened to our input and encouraged criticism and debate.

Studying law at Cardiff is intellectually challenging, academically rigorous and personally rewarding

Study law if you want to understand the society in which you live, the major issues that shape the life of the nation and how this affects you.

I am currently a Senior Legal Counsel and Vice President at an international asset manager based in Munich, specialising in international investment funds. I utilise the skills and knowledge I amassed on the BTC on an almost daily basis, even though I am not working as a barrister or indeed in litigation. The course taught me how to practise law, as opposed to theorise it - in other words, how to quickly and accurately research the applicable law and apply it to a particular case.
