What makes us unique
90% of research at Cardiff University is rated world-leading or internationally excellent (Research Excellence Framework 2021).
One of the most beautiful universities in the UK (Times Higher Education 2018)
You'll study in a capital city renowned for its friendliness, culture and natural beauty - we have more green space per person than any other big UK city.
Most affordable UK city for students
Cardiff has been ranked the most affordable UK city for students in the NatWest Student Living Index 2022.
Whether you're pursuing one of our postgraduate taught courses or our research programmes, we have lots of ways to help you cover tuition fees and living costs. And if you need specialist support, our Advice and Money team can help.
Conversion courses for postgraduate study
You can fast-track a change of career path by studying a subject unrelated to your undergraduate degree or current career.
Whether you choose to live in a university residence or private accommodation, we want you to feel at home here.
International (not including EU, EEA or Swiss national) postgraduate students are guaranteed a single occupancy place in university residences for the full duration of your studies (term and conditions apply). If you're a UK student, university accommodation is not guaranteed but may still be available.
Doctoral Training Initiatives
Our Doctoral Training Initiatives bring together diverse areas of expertise that equip researchers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to tackle today's big questions and future challenges.
Making the most of your university experience
It's not all work, work, work. What you do outside of your studies can be as important as what you learn inside a lecture hall.
Learn a language - for free
Alongside your main degree programme, you can take one of our free Languages for All courses in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. If you'd like to learn Welsh, you can sign up for our free Welsh for All course, which also fits around your academic commitments.
All levels are catered for, from complete beginners to advanced.
