Sustainable Civil Engineering Summer School

Watch our International Summer School film.

As we battle to achieve environmental sustainability, there has never been a more crucial time to explore an engineer's role in designing, constructing and maintaining the physical environment.

In response to the UK Government’s recent announcements with regards to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have decided to cancel our Summer Schools for 2020.

We understand this may be disappointing but ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff has to be our priority.

We will be updating these webpages in due course with information about Summer Schools for 2021. If you have any questions, please get in touch by emailing pse-iss@cardiff.ac.uk.

We appreciate your understanding in these unprecedented times and we hope to see you in Cardiff in the future.

Working alongside academic experts in our School of Engineering, you will analyse contemporary issues in working with the built and natural environment, in both national and international contexts.

Lectures, interactive workshops and industrial visits will examine integral topics such as:

  • buildings and structures including mega-buildings
  • self-healing concrete
  • water supply
  • materials
  • flood alleviation
  • light structures
  • Soil and fluid mechanics
  • Building information modelling
  • Geotechnical and environmental engineering

Please note, the contents of this course are still subject to change and may be cancelled in the event of low turnout.
