Biomedicine and Human Disease Summer School
Explore the science that underpins all medicine and medical research, and receive training in contemporary topics and techniques.
The Biomedicine and Human Disease, Cancer Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology and Stem Cell Engineering Summer Schools will run from Saturday 11 July 2020 – Saturday 25 July 2020.
Biomedicine is the science that underpins all of medicine and medical research. This summer school will introduce you to our cutting-edge research in this area and give you the opportunity to explore a variety of topics related to biomedicine and human disease.
The Biomedicine and Human Disease Summer School is delivered by the School of Biosciences which is internationally renowned for its world-leading research in human physiology, human structure, biochemistry and genetics. Our courses are informed by our research strengths, and our courses are delivered by scientists undertaking pioneering research - from developing new treatments for cancer, to tackling the issue of antibiotic resistance.
This programme is designed to give you a taster of our innovative Biomedical Sciences undergraduate degree and will include lectures on such topics as cardiovascular disease, molecular biology of pancreatic disease, neurological disorders, musculoskeletal disease, microbiology of infectious disease and cancer cell biology.
You will also have the opportunity to get hands-on and practice contemporary biomedical and biochemical and bioinformatic techniques via a range of practical workshop and laboratory sessions.
