The lectures and workshops in this summer school will introduce you to numerous topics in biomedicine and human disease.

This Summer School is now closed for 2019 applications.

The Biomedicine and Human Disease Summer School is hosted by the School of Biosciences which is one of the largest life sciences departments in the UK and is responsible for the education of around 2,000 undergraduate students and 250 postgraduate students each year.

With two Nobel Prize winners and numerous Fellows of the Royal Society contributing to the internationally renowned research programmes, our teaching is therefore underpinned by cutting edge research.

At this summer school, you will have the opportunity to sample our biomedicine curriculum, which is focused on our research interests in human physiology, human structure, biochemistry and genetics.

Lecture topics will include cardiovascular disease, molecular biology of pancreatic disease, neurological disorders, musculoskeletal disease, microbiology of infectious disease and cancer cell biology. You will also attend hands on workshop sessions in bioinformatics and practical sessions in that you can learn contemporary biomedical and biochemical laboratory techniques.
