International Summer Schools

Group of international students talking

Our International Summer Schools are designed to develop a sophisticated knowledge of the subject area, provide hands-on experience and give you an insight into life at a leading UK university.

In response to the UK Government’s recent announcements with regards to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have decided to cancel our Summer Schools for 2020.

We understand this may be disappointing but ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff has to be our priority.

We will be updating these webpages in due course with information about Summer Schools for 2021. If you have any questions, please get in touch using the contact information provided on the individual programme pages.

We appreciate your understanding in these unprecedented times and we hope to see you in Cardiff in the future.

Our Summer Schools

Our Summer Schools will give you the chance to immerse yourself in British culture with new friends from across the world. Our programmes include accommodation in the centre of the city, cultural trips to attractions within Wales and the UK, and entertaining social events in our vibrant Welsh capital.

Entry requirements

Our Summer Schools are aimed towards advanced undergraduates or those who have recently graduated. Students must be over 18 and have completed at least one year of undergraduate study in a related subject.

If you do not meet these criteria and would still like to attend the Summer School, please apply and we will consider your application on a case by case basis.

English language skills

Our Summer Schools are a great opportunity for you to strengthen your English language skills. There are no specific requirements but we would recommend that you have a good understanding of English so that you can enjoy all aspects of the Summer School.

All academic sessions, social activities and field trips will be delivered in English.

Applying for a short-term study visa

Some students will need to apply for a short-term study visa before travelling to the UK while others can apply on entry to the UK at immigration control. Once we have received your Summer School payment, we’ll email you a visa invitation letter that you can use to apply for your visa.

For the latest information on short-term visas head to Home Office guidance.
