Our vibrant start-up environment is furnished with innovative tech solutions and plenty of collaborative spaces to inspire teamwork and creativity.
We are in Newport's Information Station based on the recommendations of a task force set up by the Welsh Government. Cardiff University's investment in the area will help to regenerate the economy of the City of Newport and provide a pipeline of skilled software engineers in Wales.
We are conveniently situated next to Newport railway station. We encourage all students and visitors to take the train from Cardiff to Newport. Trains run regularly from Cardiff Central every 10-15 minutes. The rail journey typically only takes around 15 minutes.
A travel bursary is available for most students.
The nearest car park is the NCP Newport High Street, accessed from the Old Green roundabout. This has parking charges and season ticket/cheap day-options are available. Other car parks are available within the local vicinity.
Travel bursaries for students
We provide most students with a travel bursary which is equivalent to a rail season ticket between Cathays (close to most student accommodation) and Newport stations. If you withdraw part way through a year, you would have to repay the unused bursary on a pro-rata basis.
Accommodation for students
There are private halls of residence and private accommodation available in Newport but these are not owned by Cardiff University. We would encourage you to live in halls of residence (private or University-owned) in Cardiff so you can be close to our wide range of student facilities.
