Dying with Reduced Agency: People, Places, Principles and Policies

Demographic, technological, organisational, political and social changes create new challenges at the end of life.

Project details

This project is focused on understanding and improving the end of life, for the growing number of people with reduced agency (e.g. linked to dementia, disorders of consciousness or chronic conditions in advanced old age).

The funding supports a GW4 community involving expertise across the Universities of Cardiff, Bath, Bristol and Exeter. We are developing  dialogue about our work through networking, consultation and a public/policy engagement events  and are working together to develop a major  bid for a 5-year cohort study following people across diverse sites (hospital, home, care home) exploring end of life experiences and implications for policy and practice.
