Quality assurance and enhancement policies and procedures
Our quality assurance and enhancement policies and codes of practice are the key reference point for information on the academic principles and processes, roles and responsibilities through which we develop and implement an effective and efficient quality management framework.
This assures us of the standards and quality of our provision and is also one of the channels of communication via which good practice in learning, teaching and research is encouraged and disseminated.
Our policies and codes of practice relate to both taught and research provision and is arranged into a number of themed statements. All Schools must comply with our policies and codes of practice unless an exemption is received from the Academic Standards and Quality Committee. There are elements of discretion however, and responsibilities are assigned for individuals and groups.
The content of each statement is underpinned by the following:
- Cardiff University Strategic Plan - The Way Forward
- Research Excellence Framework (REF)
- The Education Portfolio
- Welsh Language Standards
- Equality and Diversity Policy
- Quality Assurance Agency
- Elements drawn from the University Charter, Statutes and Ordinances
- The Academic Regulations Handbook
- Research Integrity and Governance Code of Practice
Each policy and code of practice is continually evolving and in order to be at the forefront of good practice, we are committed to regularly and systematically reviewing all documents over a five-year cycle as agreed by the Academic Standards and Quality Committee. Our aim is to involve a range of staff and the Students' Union in our consultation processes.
