Overview

Dr Huw Lloyd Williams is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Emergency Medicine at Cardiff University with a master's in medical education and a practicing Emergency Medicine consultant in Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.

Dr Williams established the ' Emergency, Pre-hospital and Immediate Care' intercalated BSc (EPIC iBSc) degree, which was approved by Cardiff University in 2016, funded by the Welsh Government since 2017 and for which he has been the programme director since 2018. He later became the Year 3 'Hospital Front Door' Module Lead for the undergraduate MBBCh programme at Cardiff University in 2018. He became a Fellow of Advance Higher Education (FHEA) in 2019.

Dr Williams has received several awards for his work in medical education including the BEST Trainee Medical Education Award (2016), the MEDIC Star Award in Medical Education (2017), the SURGAM Rising Teaching Star Award (2018) and the BMA / BMJ Cymru Clinical Teacher of the Year Rising Star Award (2018). He has also received two nominations in the SURGAM 2020 awards for the educational eLearning and face-to-face programmes he ran during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He now runs the Emergency Medicine Academic Centre (EMAC) at Cardiff University. Current innovation projects include:
