Dr Katherine Stansfield

Royal Literary Fellow, Creative writing tutor

School of Journalism, Media and Culture

I am a novelist and poet with two roles at Cardiff University. I'm a tutor with the School of Continuing and Professional Education where I teach the Writing Crime Fiction course, and I'm also a Royal Literary Fund Fellow, offering students one to one support with academic writing.

My new book is The Magpie Tree, second in the 'Cornish Mysteries' series published by Allison & Busby. It's historical crime fiction set in 1840s Cornwall - think Daphne du Maurier meets the X Files meets Sherlock Holmes.

Seren published my debut poetry collection, Playing House, in 2014, and Literature Wales supported the writing of my second collection with a bursary.

In addition to my roles at Cardiff, I also teach for the Open University, the University of South Wales MPhil programme, and I'm a mentor for Literature Wales.
