Research

I'm committed to coproduction within research and clinical practice and have experience leading the development of a network across Wales to operationalise this.  I developed this interest in roles supporting research for example at the Wellcome Trust, and Wales Council for Voluntary Action.

I have been fortunate to work with Professors Jonathan Bisson and Neil Roberts and other colleagues at the Traumatic Stress Research Group at Cardiff University.  This has included the evaluation of interventions to treat PTSD, including Spring, internet-based Guided Self Help Trauma-Focused CBT for mild to moderate PTSD.  My PhD was concerned with the acceptability of this treatment to patients and to therapists.

I am particularly interested in social support as a protective factor in mental health, including trauma-related disorders, and have published in the area.  Within my role as a Trainee Clinical Psychologist, I am undertaking further research exploring whether perceived social support is a protective factor in perinatal mental health.
