Professor René Lindstädt
Head of School, Professor of Law, Professor of Politics
I am Head of the School of Law and Politics, Professor of Law, and Professor of Politics at Cardiff University. I also serve as an Editor of the British Journal of Political Science. I joined Cardiff School of Law and Politics in September 2016 having previously held faculty positions at SUNY Stony Brook, Trinity College Dublin and the University of Essex, where I served as Head of the Department of Government and Director of the Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis.
My main research and teaching areas are political economy, political institutions, formal theory and political methodology, with particular interests in social learning and diffusion, political accountability, strategic communication and cooperation. My research has been published in, among others, the American Journal of Political Science, Political Analysis, the Journal of Politics, the British Journal of Political Science, and Comparative Political Studies.
My ongoing research includes projects on electoral competitiveness, the political economy of organizational growth, globalization preferences, and temporal dynamics of political accountability (including a book-length treatment on the U.S. Congress).
