School of Healthcare Sciences

Overview

I am a lecturer in Primary Care and Public Health in the School of Healthcare Sciences at Cardiff University. I am a registered General Nurse and my clinical background is in respiratory and cardiac nursing and more recently in District Nursing. I have a particular interest in developing leadership within district nursing practice, and in promoting the value of district nursing in providing complex care in the community setting.

I began my academic career in 2014 following a successful career as a District Nurse Team Leader and have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to contribute to the development of the future community nursing workforce, most recently as Programme Manager for the Community Health Studies Specialist Practice programme.

I am Fitness to Practice lead for the school with specific responsibility for applicant fitness to practice issues.

I am a member of the Queens Nursing Institute, and the Association of District Nurse Educators. I am an External Examiner for the community nursing programmes at Swansea University and the University of Suffolk
