Overview

Catherine qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1998 and commenced her career in cardio-thoracic nursing at Harefield Hospital where she worked in a variety of medical and surgical settings.  Whilst at Harefield she gained her MSc in cardio-thoracic nursing from Imperial College, London.  After moving to Cardiff in 2005 she set up the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic at the University Hospital of Wales.  Having completed the Independent Prescribing course she ran this nurse-led clinic until September 2009 when she commenced her PhD studies.
On completing her PhD she began working as a lecturer in the School of Healthcare Sciences at Cardiff University, with a particular focus on post-graduate clinical modules, particularly physical assessment and independant prescribing. Catherine has successfully supervised one Professional Doctorate student and one PhD student to completion, with others currently enrolled on PhD programmes.
