I am a lecturer in mechanical engineering, working with the Applied and Computational Mechanics research group. My primary research interests are as follows -

  • Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) in computational engineering mechanics is necessary in design, calibration and performance prediction of practical engineering systems to ensure their clean and fail-safe operation. This finds applications in wide range of areas starting from design under uncertainty to multistage digital manufacturing process.
  • Active control of vibration and noise is essential to ensure robust, real-time cancellation of structural vibration/noise even under changing operational and loading conditions.
  • Computational modelling and digital twin is receiving increasing attention in high-tech applications because it enables simulation of a products’ operation in a virtual environment in a parametrized space which captures both design features and operational conditions. This requires advanced computational modelling techniques including reduced order modelling to have a sleek, interactive model in real-time.
  • Structural Health Monitoring is a significant area of interest especially for aerospace applications where intelligent monitoring systems for structures integrated within an IOT framework would help in the development and fail-safe operation of next smart structures.

Areas of expertise

  • Uncertainty Quantification
  • Bayesian inference
  • structural dynamics
  • reduced order computational modelling
  • robust optimization
  • machine learning
  • vibration and noise control
