I am a Lecturer in High-Voltage and High-Current Engineering, with interests in lightning direct-effects, electrical insulation for aerospace, lightning protection and earthing systems.

As deputy-director of the Morgan-Botti Lightning Laboratory, I am involved with a range of industrially-focussed projects concerned with the impact of lightning on materials and structures, and the effective operation of lightning protection schemes. We work closely with the aerospace, power and telecommunications sectors at the early stages of technology readiness, to develop solutions for earthing and lightning protection.

My other current research projects are concerned with perfromance of high voltage insulation systems for future electric aircraft, lightning protection for rural electrification schemes in developing countries, and the ecological impact of lightning with climate change.
