Overview

I am the Project Officer for the Physics Mentoring Project. Our project places trained university students into secondary schools across Wales to mentor small groups of Year 9-11 students, with the aims of increasing the uptake of Physics A-levels and increasing diversity in STEM subjects. I manage our mentors (university students), events, social media, and communications for the project.

I have previously completed my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Astrophysics at Cardiff University, and I am also a fully qualified science teacher. I was a Physics Mentor as part of the project I now work in when I was a student, and I also interned for the project. I am passionate about equality and diversity in STEM, especially as a queer, neurodivergent non-male in physics.

I am usually in the office 08.00 - 18.00 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but this can change. Please feel free to pop by and say hello, or drop me an email if I am not in the office!

Research

My current scientific research involves using the Physics Mentoring Project evaluation data to assess the impact the project has on mentors.

My previous research has included solar system formation, machine learning, and data analysis of high-mass protostars.
