Mr Allan Theophanides

Digital Learning Manager

Biography

Having worked in the field of Digital Education for over 20 years at numerous institutions I have spent the last 12 years of my career at Cardiff University as a Learning Technology/Digital Education Manager.  Starting in the School of Medicine I established the Universities first dedicated Learning Technology Unit helping support and develop both blended and online distance learning Medical Education courses.  The Learning Technology Unit also provided staff and student training, technical support, bespoke content development, curriculum design consultation, project management support, new technologies for education research as well as creating Cardiff's first Learning Technologist career progression pathway.

I now work in the Learning & Teaching Academy Digital Education Team as one of the Digital Learning Managers and Technical Lead providing consultation on all aspects of Digital Education across the whole organisation.  From helping advise on the appropriate selection (and use) of technologies for learning to providing a technical and pedagogically-informed steer to large scale institution-wide projects.
